Global Content Creation Report

Overview

Download the Table of Contents

Managing content is rapidly becoming one of the priorities of businesses throughout the world, but to this point very little information has been available on factors and trends in the creation of global content (especially multilingual content) and its management. LISA, in close association with SAP and LISA's OSCAR SIG as well as tools developers, has developed the first industry survey to specifically examine global content creation and management. The survey addresses widely-held expectations about the direction the field is taking, and provides new insight into the present and future states of global content creation.

Objective

The Survey's objective was to address both the authoring and localization processes and obtain an inclusive analysis of workflows, dependencies and trends for these two of the costliest components of the overall process, and provide facts that can be used by international products departments to plan activities and develop budgets.

Methodology

The survey was conducted on-line at the LISA website in September and October 2002. Respondents were asked to answer 40 questions about their companies, their international activities, and their use of key technologies and standards in creation and maintenance of global content. Companies of all sizes were invited to participate and over 150 companies responded.
